As festivals have become part of the cultural landscape in both France as well as in Europe, a network of independent festivals [ in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain,Hungary and Canada] each with the richness of its own particular story, often linked to a region and its population, has asserted itself and since its creation in October 2008 has made itself heard by getting together to form a federation.
With the magazine “Festivals” as a backdrop,since 2004 a network of exchanges and pooling resources has been built up. The desire behind the festival federation is to develop the movement in order to participate actively and think about what is at stake and what the future holds for independent festivals in France and in Europe. It gives them an opportunity to develop projects together while maintaining their know-how and their own identity.

Before getting together to create a federation the festivals had been talking,helping each other and collaborating for years.In 2004, they got together to publish a magazine “Festivals” which comes out once a year in May ,the aim being to approach festivals in a different way, to talk about what makes them unique but also to give artists an opportunity to express themselves or to ask journalists to discuss music and festivals across the board.
